Sonata Op.109 in E Major from Sonatas by L. van Beethoven

Each time I play Beethoven’s Op. 109, I’m taken on a journey through arabesques in dialogue. Themes undergo wild transformations, but still return in the end. To me, this piece represents challenges and failures as indispensable steps towards a clear vision of hope and inspiration. Jan. 2021

Here is my performance of Ricercare and Toccata, by G.C. Menotti. This piece is derived from a theme from Menotti's comedic opera The Old Maid and the Thief. The humorous tragedy of the character's romance is evident in the sonorous introduction, followed by the catchy, light hearted, and boisterous Toccata.
